Baseball: Harvard-Westlake wins in 11 innings

Jason Garfinkel‘s home run in the 11th inning broke a 3-3 tie and helped lift North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake to a 5-4 Mission League win over Alemany. Harvard-Westlake is 2-0 in the league. Chaminade defeated St. Francis, 5-3.

In the West Valley League, A.J. Silberman of El Camino Real threw a one-hitter to beat Birmingham, 1-0. Jordan Berger hit a home run in Taft’s 5-2 win over Granada Hills.

In the Marine League, Alex Velasco struck out 14 and had the walk-off hit in Banning’s 1-0 win over Gardena.

In the Valley Mission League, Van Nuys defeated Canoga Park, 14-3. Daniel Ross had four hits.

In the Eastern League, Roosevelt defeated South Gate, 8-2.

Montclair Prep swept a doubleheader from Village Christian, 12-0 and 12-1. Blake Steele was four for six on the day.
