Baseball: Erik Vogel pitches three-hit shutout for Hart

Only two days after an emotional nine-inning loss to Valencia, Newhall Hart came back on Friday and received a three-hit shutout from senior Erik Vogel to defeat West Ranch, 2-0, in a Foothill League game.

Alex Tenorio had three doubles for the Indians (10-2, 4-1).

Valencia (8-1, 4-0) defeated Saugus, 17-13. James Bonds went five for five with three doubles. Shane Zeile hit two two-run home runs. Valencia had 14 extra-base hits. Canyon defeated Golden Valley, 9-6. Grant Westerson had three hits for Canyon. Tanner Swire and Josh Smith had three hits for Golden Valley.

In the Southwestern League, Vista Murrieta (12-1, 7-0) completed a three-game sweep of Chaparral with a 9-3 victory. Holger Rabalino was three for three with a double and triple.

In the Mission League, Alemany pulled out an 8-7 win over Los Angeles Loyola after getting the go-ahead run on a balk in the eighth. Nick Morton and Andy Frakes combined on a seven-hitter to lift Encino Crespi past St. Francis, 8-1. Jacob Villela had two doubles and Frakes added two hits.

In the Marmonte League, first-place Westlake defeated Newbury Park, 5-3. Freshman Luke Dykstra had three hits for the Warriors (9-3, 5-1). Thousand Oaks defeated Simi Valley, 6-3. Peter Mcafee went four for four. Calabasas defeated Moorpark, 4-2. Agoura defeated Royal, 7-4. Mark Seyler got the save. Ryan Tinkham hit a two-run home run for Royal.

In the South Coast League, El Toro defeated San Clemente, 1-0, when Dan James hit a two-out walk-off home run in the eighth inning. Tyler Brashears got the win in relief. Braden Riddle pitched the entire game for San Clemente.

In the Trinity League, JSerra defeated St. John Bosco, 9-3. JSerra collected 14 hits, with Nico Darras getting four RBIs. Orange Lutheran defeated Servite, 6-2.

In the Baseline League, Etiwanda defeated Glendora, 8-4.

In the Camino Real League, L.A. Cathedral (12-0, 3-0) defeated St. Bernard, 11-0. Joshua Ibarra hit a double and home run. In the Golden League, Quartz Hill (12-3, 2-0) defeated Palmdale Highland, 14-1. Jay Sheeley hit a grand slam and finished with three hits and six RBIs.

In the Pacific League, Crescenta Valley (9-1, 4-0) defeated Burbank Burroughs, 10-0, in five innings. Troy Mulcahey struck out 10 and hit a two-run home run. Pasadena defeated Burbank, 1-0.
