Baseball: El Toro wins its sixth game in a row

Lake Forest El Toro is starting to roll, winning its sixth consecutive game after a 5-3 South Coast League victory over Mission Viejo Capistrano Valley.

Garrett Mundell improved to 6-0, striking out five in five innings. Ricky Schafer earned the save. Matt Chapman had two hits, including a two-run home run. El Toro is 17-6 and 4-2.

In the Foothill League, Saugus upset Newhall Hart, 9-5. Connor Wilson hit a home run, double and single. Justin Sheehan also homered. Hart dropped to 15-5 and 6-3. Valencia defeated Golden Valley, 12-0. Quincy Quintero threw a two-hitter and had two hits and two RBIs. Trey Williams and Jake Roberge hit home runs.

Canyon Country Canyon defeated West Ranch, 10-3. J.T. Arquellez threw a complete game. JC Cloney hit a two-run home run for West Ranch.

In a nonleague doubleheader, Simi Valley Royal defeated Artesia, 11-0 and 8-3. Jacob Leyba threw a no-hitter in the first game. Ryan Tinkham was three for three.

Moorpark was playing Trabuco Hills for the championship of the San Luis Obispo tournament. Moorpark beat Foothill, 3-0, and San Luis Obispo, 6-0, to advance to the final.

Ventura Buena beat North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake, 5-1. Hoover defeated Burbank, 4-3, in the Pacific League. Crescenta Valley defeated Muir, 12-0. In the Southwestern League, Vista Murrieta (17-3, 9-0) got a three-hitter from sophomore Tyler Russell in a 5-0 win over Murrieta Mesa. Holger Robalino and Joven Afenir hit home runs.
