It was a good week in the Hard 9 National Classic for Mission Hills Alemany junior outfielder Corey Sims. He finished the tournament on Thursday with a four for four performance, including two triples, to lead the Warriors past Chatsworth, 11-8, in the consolation championship game.

Sims also hit a three-run home run earlier in the tournament and went two for two in another game. He finished eight for 12, raising his batting average to .544. Alemany (16-8), which got off to a slow start in the Mission League, has started to play much better of late and recorded impressive victories over Southern Section powers El Dorado and Cypress besides City Section title favorite Chatsworth.

Peter Van Gansen came on in the seventh to get his eighth save.

Alemany collected 12 hits. Chatsworth (14-4) got three hits from sophomore Raul Camas. Steve Karkenny had two doubles.

West Hills Chaminade defeated Utah Bingham, 8-2. Kevin Lewallyn threw three innings of hitless all with four strikeouts.
