Baseball: Chatsworth ties school record with 28 runs

Still steaming from a nine-inning loss to Woodland Hills Taft on Wednesday, Chatsworth got its revenge on Friday with a 28-0, five-inning victory over the Toreadors that tied a school record for most runs in a game.

In winning the West Valley League game, Chatsworth collected 23 hits. Aaron Brown had three hits and six RBIs. Steven Karkenny had three hits and three RBIs. Christian Lopez threw a two-hitter.

Chatsworth is tied for first place with Woodland Hills El Camino Real heading into a two-game series with the Conquistadores on Wednesday and Friday. El Camino Real defeated Granada Hills, 3-1, with A.J. Silberman throwing a complete game. Chris Nicholson had a three-run double in the fifth.

Reseda Cleveland defeated Birmingham, 3-1. Josh Gomez gave up one run in six innings. Carlos Astorga drove in the winning run.

In the East Valley League, Arleta defeated Verdugo Hills, 4-0. Arleta (16-7, 10-0) clinched the league title. Freshman Rafa Salcedo had a two-run double. Ivan Ceja threw a five-hitter.
