Baseball: Alemany ends slump with win over Harvard-Westlake

Mission Hills Alemany, one of the preseason favorites to win the Mission League, has been slumping but finally got an important league victory, defeating North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake, 7-6, on Monday.

Peter Van Gansen got the final two outs for the save as Alemany improved to 11-7 overall and 3-5 in league. Harvard-Westlake had won three consecutive league games to start the season.

Corey Messmore pitched five scoreless innings to pick up the win. Edgar Montes had two hits and three RBIs. Harvard-Westlake came close to overcoming a 7-0 deficit. Sam Horn and Joe Corrigan had two hits apiece for Harvard-Westlake.
