Track: Loyola pulls out win over Notre Dame

There was some terrific performances on Thursday in a dual meet between host Sherman Oaks Notre Dame and Los Angeles Loyola. The intensity of the rivalry helped elevate performances. In the end, Loyola won the meet, 64.5-62.5.

Notre Dame sophomore Khalfani Muhammad won the 100 meters in 10.72 seconds, the fourth-fastest time in the state this season. He also took the 200 in 21.83, the third-fastest time in the state.

Loyola pole vaulter Evan Barr, who shares the best mark of the season at 16-0, went 15-4.

One of the best races of the day was the 800, where Loyola’s Philip Kostelnik, a UCLA commit, took on Notre Dame’s William Conway, the third-place state finisher in Division IV cross country. Kostelnik won in 1:55.77. Conway wasn’t far behind in 1:56.46.
