Girls' basketball: Windward advances to state final

March 19, 2011 |  7:06 pm

Redemption is sweet. Especially when it comes in the Southern California Regional championship game.

Los Angeles Windward opened the fourth quarter on a 8-0 run to take command en route to a 68-58 victory over La Jolla Country Day in the Division V final at Colony High in Ontario.

Courtney Jaco scored 18 points for the second-seeded Wildcats (28-4), who avenged two December losses and advance to the state final Saturday at Power Balance Pavilion in Sacramento.

Kelsey Plum scored 18 points for top-seeded La Jolla Country Day (27-5), which led after each of the first three quarters.
