Girls’ basketball: Mater Dei takes 40-25 lead

Santa Ana Mater Dei has opened the second half on an 8-0 run to increase its lead to 40-25 over Brea Olinda with 5:25 left in the third quarter.

There’s still a lot of time left, but right now the Monarchs have the top-seeded Wildcats on their heels. Brea Olinda Coach Jeff Sink just called a much-needed timeout to settle his team down.
