Girls’ basketball: Controversy follows Rialto’s Division II victory over Buena

Rialto’s 44-42 victory over Buena in the CIF Southern California Division II regionals was as dramatic as it was controversial.

Just before Janae’ Sharpe‘s game-winning shot at the buzzer, Buena’s Keani Albanez was whistled for an offensive charging violation after colliding with Rialto’s Denae Williams with 2.8 seconds left in regulation.

Buena Coach David Guenther described the foul as a ‘travesty’ and said ‘it was probably the worst call in high school sports.’
