Baseball: Notre Dame’s Lathuras throws no-hitter

Matt Lathuras of Sherman Oaks Notre Dame threw a no-hitter and Walker Moses had three hits in the Knights’ 6-0 Mission League victory over Los Angeles Loyola.

Lathuras struck out three and walked two. Notre Dame is 7-3 and 2-1.

‘He threw great,’ Coach Tom Dill said. ‘He made some good pitches when he had to. He made some fantastic plays on the mound.’

In the Trinity League, Bellflower St. John Bosco defeated Anaheim Servite, 11-4. Michael Duarte had three hits and Matt Charmello and Dante Flores added two apiece. Nick Wood threw three innings of scoreless relief.

San Fernando improved to 8-2 with a 12-0 win over Van Nuys behind pitcher David Lira.

In the Big VIII League, Norco rallied for a 4-3 win over Corona Santiago in eight innings. Norco is 6-1 and 2-0.

Van Nuys Montclair Prep (7-1, 2-0) defeated Downey Calvary Chapel, 13-1, in an Alpha League game. Nick Suniga and Ben McKendall had two hits each.

Palm Desert defeated Indio, 5-0. Brooks Kriske improved to 4-0, allowing four hits in 6 1/3 innings. John Schuknecht had two hits. Dos Pueblos defeated Ventura, 3-0. Joe Huthsing threw a one-hitter.
