After two weeks of the baseball season, one thing is certain: San Juan Capistrano JSerra has lots of players who can hit.

The Lions (5-0) won the Newport Elks tournament championship on Friday with an 11-9 victory over Palm Desert. Grant Davis was three for four with a double and triple. Austin Hedges hit a three-run home run. Clay Williamson had two hits and two RBIs.

It was a long game that also featured a grand slam by Palm Desert’s Ryan Garvey.

JSerra has little time to celebrate. The tough Trinity League season begins next week with a two-game series against Anaheim Servite.
