With more than 30 scouts watching his every move, Huntington Beach Edison left-hander Henry Owens started his senior season Friday with a complete-game four-hitter to beat Garden Grove Pacifica, 3-1, in a Loara tournament game. He had a no-hitter into the sixth inning but was wild on the day.

Christian Lopes, who struggled as a junior, began his senior year with a triple in the first inning and ended up three for three with a home run and single. Sophomore Jake Lesinski hit a two-run home run.

Another stellar pitching performance was turned in by North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake junior right-hander Lucas Giolito, who struck out five, walked two and allowed three hits in a 1-0 victory over Calabasas. Also pitching well was Calabasas’ Travis Cassidy, who gave up two hits.

Woodland Hills Taft hit six home runs, including three by Art Chavez, in a 10-4 victory over Oxnard Pacifica. Chavez had five RBIs. Alex Sawleson hit two home runs.

Westlake Village Oaks Christian got a home run from Cole Taylor to defeat Woodland Hills El Camino Real, 2-1. Ryan Fitzpatrick struck out 10 for ECR.

Nick Suniga threw five shutout innings and sophomore Ben McKendall had three hits in Van Nuys Montclair Prep’s 11-1 win over Maranatha.

Peter Van Gansen, Cody Sulflow and Rene Deleon had two hits apiece in Alemany’s 8-4 win over Palmdale.
