Thank goodness daylight savings time has kicked in, because the Mission League matchup between West Hills Chaminade and Mission Hills Alemany might require lots of extra innings this week.

The two league favorites start league play at Chaminade on Tuesday and at Alemany on Friday. It will be Alemany’s Cody Thompson opposing Chaminade’s Mathew Troupe, then on Friday, Alemany’s Ryan Paramo taking on Chaminade’s Michael Dingilian.

Both of these schools think so highly of themselves that they are entered in the National Classic next month in Orange County.

The hottest hitter in the two games should be Alemany outfielder Corey Sims, who has started the season 11 for 16.

It’s still going to come down to pitching, playing defense and executing on bunts. Beware if Chaminade ever gets a lead, because the Eagles have closer Dalton Brown ready to close the door.

Game time is 3:30 p.m. Beware of those Chaminade fanatics sitting near the roof of the gym and on the football bleachers. They can make lots of noise.
