Baseball: Crescenta Valley’s Murray strikes out 15

Junior pitcher Kyle Murray struck out 15 and threw a three-hitter to help Crescenta Valley improve to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the Pacific League with a 3-1 victory over Burbank. Troy Mulcahey hit a two-run home run.

In the Trinity League, Bellflower St. John Bosco (8-2, 3-1) defeated Santa Margarita, 6-3. Clay Williamson’s sixth-inning home run lifted JSerra past Orange Lutheran, 1-0. Trevor Charpie and Bobby Hearn combined on the shutout. Santa Ana Mater Dei defeated Anaheim Servite, 10-1. Chris Santoro struck out six in five innings. The Monarchs chased starter Cole Irvin, who was hurt by errors and walks.

In the Mission League, Xavier Borde threw a complete game to lead Loyola past Alemany, 5-2. St. Francis defeated Crespi, 8-2.

In the Channel League, Santa Barbara defeated Ventura, 3-1. Pepe Gil had two doubles. Nick Griffith had two hits for Ventura.

In the Big VIII League, Riverside North (9-1, 3-1) defeated Norco, 15-1.

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame (11-3) defeated Santa Monica, 13-2. Nick Picciolo went three for five with three RBIs.

In Scottsdale, Ariz., Van Nuys Montclair Prep (8-2) defeated Forysth Country Day of North Carolina, 14-2. Nick Suniga struck out four to improve to 4-0. Paul Aldape hit a three-run home run and Myles Hager also homered. Max Fried and Blake Steele had three RBIs each. North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake defeated Brophy Prep, 7-5. Connor Dillman struck out seven in three innings.

L.A. Cathedral (11-2) defeated Bosco Tech, 6-0. Brian Orozco struck out nine in six innings. Joshua Ibarra had three hits.
