Lots of hitters are struggling with the new bat requirements, but Valencia’s hitters aren’t among them, and on Thursday, the Vikings (3-0) will get to face West Hills Chaminade (3-0) and hard-throwing pitcher Mathew Troupe at Chaminade.

Eventually, hitters should be able to adjust to bats that are supposed to produce a similar effect as wood bats, but for now, pitchers seem to be in control.

On Tuesday, Chaminade shut out Westlake, 1-0, and former major leaguer Mark Gubicza, whose son, Chad, is a pitcher for the Eagles, discussed how pitchers are in charge so far this season (video below). And parents of pitchers seem to be having the most fun.
