Baseball: Loyola wins a wild game against Crespi, 11-10
Down by two runs with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, Los Angeles Loyola pulled out an 11-10 victory over Encino Crespi in a Mission League opener when Xavier Borde hit a dramatic three-run home run.
That home run wiped out a memorable performance from Crespi's Scott Heineman. He hit two home runs using a wood bat. Loyola is 3-3 overall and Crespi is 4-2.
St. Francis defeated Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 6-3, in another Misison League opener.
In the championship game of the Chino tournament, Riverside Poly defeated Etiwanda, 6-5.
In an Alpha League opener, Van Nuys Montclair Prep defeated Santa Monica Crossroads, 8-1. Max Fried allowed two hits over six innings and contributed two hits and two RBIs. Paul Aldape and Nick Suniga added two hits apiece. Montclair Prep is 5-1. Crossroads is 4-2.
Ventura defeated Oak Park, 3-1.

The walk off 3 run homer was a no doubter. But, the final inning should have never been played. Loyola has no lights, it was well past 6:30 when the 7th inning started & it was getting dark to the point where there is a safety issue for both teams. The game ended around 6:55. If the umps had showed up ready for a 3:30 start, then this would not have been an issue.
BTW - Loyola led after 6 innings.

Pretty sloppy game all around. Pitching was solid, some innings Celt pitchers were required to get 6 outs. Loyola defense was not impressive either. Both teams can play alot better.

Saw Max Fried yesterday, He is the real deal no doubt.
Cant wait to see him at 21....
Crespi has lots of pitchers, hopefully they use 'em.

Celts pitching fails?
Don't see that too often. It's a long season, the Celts will get beter -- they always do.
