Football: The perfect candidate for Taft job
Now that Matt Kerstetter has stepped down as football coach at Woodland Hills Taft, I have a suggestion for his replacement.
He's a Taft grad.
He has lots of coaching experience.
His hiring would produce national headlines.
He knows defense.
He doesn't have a job at the moment.
My recommendation is Jeff Fisher, the ex-Taft defensive back and former coach of the Tennessee Titans.
I'm sure the Taft booster club would throw him a party if he took the job. And the City Section sure could use a boost.

Coach Harp from old Granada could run a effective spread with Taft but not a lot of guys know how to run a spread offense. Parra and Arreola from Reseda for example. Newbury Park has always had little talent and have always had an effective spread offense. Its one of the harder offenses to run.

I mean real coaches. Guys who teach technique and can game plan. Not recruiters and players' "uncles" with sideline passes.

re: "They need a full staff of coaches"? - there are more asst coaches at Taft than players - I've never seen so many asst coaches for a high school team

No I'm not Coach Parra, but seriously, try and run ANYTHING at Granada and it won't work. But a real spread guy like he is would run it up at Taft. I want Taft to do well. I want a valley team to win city and Birmingham aint gonna do it. Taft has had a couple of okay coaches and great talent. They need a full staff of coaches and they could win city...and state.

Billy Parra from Granada Hills. With that Spread ...Taft will score 50 per game.
