Football: St. John Bosco gets top transfer
Watch out, Anaheim Servite. Bellflower St. John Bosco is putting together a talented football team for this fall.
The latest player to check in is linebacker C.J. Dozier from Temecula Chaparral. He'll be a senior this fall and already has scholarship offers from Washington and Arizona State.
He'll join junior running back DaVonte Young, who had to sit out last season after transferring from Tustin via Irvine. Also back is standout receiver Bryce Treggs and quarterback Rene Medina.
St. John Bosco could be the team to watch this summer in seven-on-seven passing tournaments.
"We have to prove ourselves," Coach Jason Negro said.
-- Eric Sondheimer

Beasty if you have 5 fails I would not want you back, and if they did want you back it had to come with a contract and a mentally challenged academic standard, I can guarantee that. With 5 fails you are already behind the 8 ball. Not a good thing and why would a parent even think about letting you play any sport. You would of been back at your neighborhood public school. Academics first and sports second.

matter of fact, ES, I will send you an email with this kids info...so you can see how it plays out as well.

The WR who transferred to Alemany probably lives in Pasadena....and Alemany has a number of different educational...and I use the term losely...tracks...college prep, general ed and remedial,,,,,they use these kids for their atheltic ability and don't give a damn about them academically....I am sitting on some information that I am waiting to see how it turns out for a specific kid I know they have recruited from the 8th grade...when that situation plays itself out...and if it does the way I believe it will....then I will bring it to the ES and the Times so they can blow the lid of this kind of plantation mentality in high school sports. And Alemany isn't the only school who recruited this kid, and the others aren't all Catholic schools.

Optimus Prime,
I agree to an extent, but people are getting riled up and posting comments that have nothing to do with SJB or Servite, even though the thread is about SJB. So sit back and enjoy as I'm doing - this is funny stuff. ES is just doing his job and covering Trinty news. That said, we do not need any locker room rhetoric for Servite and Troy Thomas; but, Bosco will be good to go come Sept.

I'm not partial to either team. But I heard both schools theoretically teach character. Kicking a team while their down is not a character move...oh wait, both teams are down. Cathedral will win ZERO games in league next year or maybe EVER again. Sad but true. Let's leave this board to people who want to talk about St. John Bosco.
Sondheimer, don't compare SJB to Servite just to get people riled up. It's not right.

at phantonm fan... this iphone buttons are making the spelling come out like this, but anyway back to cathedral by salesian loosing to cantwin, or u guys well in 2009 ask cantwin why they dont want to play salesian anymore they were beat up physically and scoreboard wise they won salesian scored and they called it back so they just escpaped, but also since we know u guys scared to play salesian in a real game you guys are going to use the alumni fans as an excuse, play them in a passing league or something i want to see what the retting kid has ive been hearing he is real slow, has no feet, or a arm, and everytime serra came at him he ducked his head and fell down.... and anyway before u speak on serra i would be careful u have to play them and u dont want 50+ points put up on you guys again.... but anyway we will see and the division dont mean nothing salesian guys have colleges on them and they are doing everything these other big time coaches are doing..... so talk what you know phantom fan....

Go REAL old school and throw Mt. Carmel out there!

@ DMHS 80--- You have nothing to brag about buddy. It all comes down to who exists now!
@ NUMBER ONE FAN --- I sure hope your boy does not learn to spell or speak from you. But then again I don't think Salesian can help with that either. Now back to playing Salesian in football, just look at the last few times they played each other. It was horrible for Salesian and I'm sure it still would be. Salesian couldn't even beat Cantwin in 2009! Sure Cathedral had a down year this year but they will be back. Try jumping up 7 divisions. Salesian can't even jump up 1!

Easy on the Murphy smack. We used to joke about Catherdral, Salesian, Pius and PN in the day.

@ CIF Why do you always mention Serra and you don't have any facts?

at CIF FAN AND PHANTOM, THE WASNT IN-ELGIBLE DURING THE SEASON AND EVERYTHING WAS GOOD UP UNTIL FOOTBALL SEASON WAS OVER THEN YALL DOGG THEM OUT LIKE YALL DO ALL THE SUPERIOR ATHLETS THATS Y WONG LEFT AND WENT TO ST. PAUL, AND THE WR WENT TO ALEMANY BECAUSE THATS NOT A PROGRAM OVER THEIR AT CATHEDRAL THEY ARE WEAK AND IS ALWAYS GOING TO BE THE STEP-CHILD TO GARDENA SERRA WHICH ON YO GUYS AND THAT ;EAGUE, AND WHY DONT U GUYS PLAY SALESIAN IN FOOTBALL AND LETS SEE WAT WILL HAPPEN I KEEP HEARING NOTHING BUT POSITIVE THINGS ABOUT THAT SCHOOL AND WHEN MY SON COME OF AGE HE IS GOING THEIR THEY ARE THE NEW SCHOOL AROUND TOWN PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT....
Posted by: NUMBER ONE FAN | February 18, 2011 at 01:02 PM
To Thomas Idiot as I understand they came in as 8th graders to Cathedral and did not do their work with tutors and help. That's why they are at Salesian where it doesn't matter about grades. I am suprised they did not go to Serra either where they also let anybody in.

MPG, I was originally going to play the Daniel Murphy card, but didn't think anyone other than Brad Wright and his family would remember that school, and the Aviation high card could be played but I didn't want to involve public schools in this little Catholic school squabble...and I do mean LITTLE....so yeah, I played the Hosiery High card from the bottom of the deck...and proudly so!
Posted by: sammy culture | February 18, 2011 at 11:18 AM
to thomas: ouch! pater noster and pius x.....classic! no love for daniel murphy? aviation? excelsior? lowell?
Posted by: mpg | February 18, 2011 at 10:37 AM
BTW, a little war of words between Cathedral and Salesian is about as compelling, and relevant as a war of words between Pater Noster and Pius X...oh wait a minute both of those schools are defunct, too.

If the two freshmen had 5 Fails each, how did Cathedral keep them eligible to play last football season with their "high' academic standards?
How did Cathedral accept those two freshmen into their school because chances are, those Fails weren't a new occurrence for those two athletes...errr students.
Posted by: thomas | February 18, 2011 at 09:51 AM
Cathedral's freshman team last year was horrible.
Posted by: SJKing | February 18, 2011 at 09:47 AM
Keep dreaming Number One Fan! Salesian will never be able to compete with Cathedral in football let alone most other private schools. They haven't proven themselves yet and are still in Division 12. They cheated last year and got caught! Wake up!
Posted by: PhantomFan | February 18, 2011 at 07:59 AM
The Two Freshman had 5 Fail's each. They could not meet Cathedral's Academic Standards. Salesian let's anybody in that's notsaying much about their Academic's in general.
