Boys' basketball: Taft takes 23-15 lead over Palisades

Top-seeded Woodland Hills Taft is off to a good start in its City Section Division I semifinal game against Palisades, opening a 23-15 lead after the first quarter at USC's Galen Center.

Taft's early strategy has been trying to get the ball inside and take advantage of its height advantage. The 6-foot-10 Kevin Johnson had six points in the quarter and Taft drew seven fouls from the Dolphins.

Palisades gave the Toreadors a little trouble on offense, moving the ball and making the most of its opportunities.
