Boys’ basketball: Gardena Serra foreits 13 wins, out of playoffs for now

Gardena Serra has forfeited 13 victories after discovering an ineligible player, removing the Cavaliers from playoff consideration.

Serra, however, can appeal to the Del Rey League to be included in the league’s guaranteed entries. That decision must be made before the start of the tournament on Wednesday.

Update: Coach Dwan Hurt said the Southern Section indicated 6-foot-11 center Emmanual Ndumanya was ineligible. He transferred from a school in Maryland via Nigeria.

‘It wasn’t like we didn’t turn in paper work,’ Hurt said. ‘We didn’t turn in enough.’
