Baseball: Poly Classic starts Friday

The baseball season officially begins Friday with City Section teams playing in the Poly Classic. There figures to be some terrific pitching matchups, starting with El Camino Real and Jose Cardona hosting Granada Hills Kennedy and Ryan Cruz. The day ends with San Fernando and David Lira taking on Arleta and Javy Lopez at 7 p.m. at Birmingham.

Friday’s schedule: Eagle Rock at Poly, Verdugo Hills at Birmingham, Roosevelt at Narbonne, Van Nuys at Franklin, University at Wilson, Garfield at Monroe, Marshall at Fairfax, Sylmar at Grant, San Pedro at Cleveland.

Saturday’s schedule: Birmingham at Poly, Eagle Rock at San Fernando, Wilson at Grant, El Camino Real at Sylmar, Roosevelt at Verdugo Hills, Arleta at Kennedy, Marshall at Narbonne, Garfield at Cleveland, San Pedro at Fairfax, Monroe at Franklin, Van Nuys at University.
