Baseball: Ex-Hart players in UCLA starting lineup

Former Newhall Hart standouts Trevor Brown (third base) and Patrick Valaika (shortstop) were in the UCLA starting lineup on Friday for the Bruins’ season opener against San Francisco.

Brown had a double in the first inning and also made a terrific defensive play in the second inning. Valaika, a freshman, started in his college debut. Ex-Hart pitcher Trevor Bauer is scheduled to start on Saturday for the Bruins.

‘I’m excited,’ Hart Coach Jim Ozella said. ‘I’m fired up for those guys.’
