MISSION

Hello Its Mission again, It all starts from the top and it rolls down to Administration. We have Farfan CHS President/Principal/coach for track. He and the Vice President for the Alumn will not get Rid of Coach Pearson. Coach Pearson is more concerned on who's on his guest list for the football field than his own damn football game..I believe We have the talent here at CHS but we do not Have the coaching staff, I dont care if Pearson has been there 20 years at CHS Bottom line CHS has to get New Coaches and it all starts with Farfan and the VP of Alumn to get this done. Since we talking about Pearson might as well throw away the Basketball Coach McCorn he's another one that has the talent but no PEOPLES SKILLS. I would quit my job and have CHS Hire me and I'll bring in a coaching staff and have all the football players try-out for positions and the best will start no politics no Alumn Favorites just open Football, and I guarantee I would have a better record than what Pearson has. NO OFFENSE COACH LOL CHS Laughing stock of the League.

A WHITE MAN

There was a time that american sports were not intregrated. So white people had a 70 year head start stop your whinning!

Not a Fan

@ Ronaldus Magnus,

I think your absolutely correct, people want to scream equality yet they separate themselves, and then get mad if white people do the same, Brown Pride is ok yet White Pride is Hitler stuff, or BET (Black Entertainment Channel) is cool but would a WET ( White Entertainment Channel ) be cool, I don't think so. And why isn't there a Mexican Bowl? because there isn't enough Mexican all stars lol, I'm not white by the way, I think thats important to state, Equality means equality.

Purple Pride

To Alum,Cathedral has the Facilities now to attract many venues and Student Athlete's. Instead of putting the Program down, the real problem is the Administration has to stop trying to be a La Salle and get Coach P the help he need's to compete at this level. If the lazy spoiled Kids that We have now would come out for Football, than Coach P wouldn.t have to have all these combines to attract Kids. I am tired of all these excuses My son won't play because of some Transfers. Just because You Alum are a Grad does not give you're Son a automatic 1st string spot. Your Son like everybody else has to earn it. I am proad of all the Cathedral Kids who play Football Regardless of who comes in. Understand this Alum, until the Administration gets Coach P the help He need's like a Weight Lifting Coach and Quality Coaches, than We will have a hard Time. We also need a AD who cares about the Kids, not an AD who want's to go home right after a game.

CheckSOLID

Polynesian Bowl??? That's a great venue if it was held at a different location. How many of the players are actually from Cathedral? Seems to me that Cathedral hosts more combines and bowl games for others (non students from CHS) than their own.

Its a shame hosting this event because current students will see what it takes to play the next level and guess what, its a sure thing that student will leave to join a bigger and better program.

ALUM

AS A PHANTOM ALUMNI ITS SAFE TO SAY WE ARE IN THE DARK DAYS OF THE PROGRAM. WITH A TEAM THAT ONLY CARRIES 30 KIDS, COACHES COMING AND GOING, AND PLAYING AN EASY SCHEDULE @ THE START JUST TO LOSE TO THE BIG BOYS REALLY DOENST BRING ANY CREDIBALITY TO THE CURRENT TEAM. AS FOR CHS HOSTING THE EVENT NO PROBLEM WITH ME . IM MORE CONCERNED ABOUT CATHEDRAL DEVELOPING AND BUILDING A TRUE CHAMPIONSHIP PROGRAM INSTEAD OF PUTTING SUCH HIGH INTEREST IN TRANSFERS AND COMBINES. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DAYS WHEN CHS JUST CAME OUT WITH 80 KIDS TO KICK SOME BUTT? WHY CANT THIS CURRENT PROGRAM MOTIVATE THE KIDS THEY HAVE THERE? IF THIS CONTINUES WELL JUST WITNESS ANOTHER YEAR OF CHS PLAYING GLENDALE, PASADENA WINNING BIG THEN TO LOSE TO THE AMATS, SERRAS,CHAMINADES,ST.FRANCIS,ST.PAULS OF THE WORLD. GET YOUR PRIORITIES STRAIGHT CHS.

D1DJ

IT doesn't matter about what race is playing or Cathedral's secret strategy into getting kids. This is all for the High School Seniors. Let them enjoy this game before they move on to bigger and better things. PLease do not bring race in this or call out schools. It really does not matter

Phantom Family

Alum, first learn some blog posting protocol, when you write in all caps that means you are yelling - not the best way to get your message out.

If the home talent included a coiule dozen 6' 6"+ 300 lbs linemen, then I see your point. But there isn't a school out there that can count on this kind of size as being part of their "talent." These athletes, just like the 7 ft basketball player, have to be recruited to compete.

I question you being a true alumnus, Phantoms have more pride than what you expressed.

Finally, if we do get some Polynesian players, then they become part of the Phantom family also. Just like the Filipino, African American, Latino, White, Asian, etc.,. students that already attend this school. The only color here is purple.

I'm an alumnus and I'll be there, I take pride when visitors stand in awe of our facilities - not the typical inner city school that comes to mind for most people.

Can't we all get along

I think the Polynesian Bowl is a great thing for all high school football. It's not just a game, it's a way for people from all cultures to get together in the spirit of competition. If you go to the web site you will see that it is more than just sports. Their are events taking place outside of the field that brings together the rich Polynesian tradition that is often ignored in this city. The venue doesn't manner, Cathedral is a great place to watch a game and I know I will be there to cheer everyone on. Get over it people, this is long overdue.

ALUM

SHOWS A LOT BY CATHEDRAL HOSTING THIS BOWL..THEY ARE MORE CONCERNED ABOUT BRINGING IN TRANSFERS INSTEAD OF DEVELOPING THE HOME TALENT...NO WONDER THEY LOSE TO THE POWERHOUSES AND WILL CONTINUE TO LOSE...AT CATHEDRAL IT SEEMS THAT THEY ARE CONTENT WITH BEING THE LAUGHING STOCK OF THEIR LEAGUE SO KEEP ON HAVING YOU R LITTLE CAMPS, COMBINES, AND GAMES THAT DONT HELP YOUR ATHLETES FIRST.

Samoan Phantoms

YEAH! Let's get some Samoans on our squad. Cathedral needs the bodies to compete at the higher level. But I don't think this is the only reason the game is being held here.

Cathedral is located down the hill from Dodger Stadium so everyone can get to it and the Balzano Family Field is perhaps the best football and soccer venue in high school sports. You can't beat that breathtaking view of L.A.. All they need is more stands and parking which I hear are coming.

If we get some Polynesian players looking for a rigorous academic and athletic environment, welcome.

MISSION

OMG, My friends I cannot believe what I am reading. Cathedral is not a racist school and this Polynesian bowl is a great event that Cathedral is doing. Aren't we all tired of getting beat by Serra, All I hear is Cathedral is good but they can't beat Serra. So here's a chance where Cathedral can open there doors to the Polynean families for there young brothers can see the school and instead of going to Serra they can come to Cathedral so we can compete in Football. Why is this racist? It's not racist all the cif schools are doing it there getting the talent to be competitive. I am glad that Cathedral is waking up and seeing the BIG PICTURE that they need Lineman in order to compete. Great Job Cathedral.

jus sayin

It's quite ridicolous that their is objection to an all-star game that benefits student-athletes. @what no mexican bowl It doesn't matter where it's being held as long as they play the game.Ignorance is bliss.

Mike

It does not matter where the bowl game is being held...or what the name of the bowl game is. Go out and enjoy a friendly competitive game of football. "What no Mexican Bowl" very uneducated comment, you are obviously just trying to stir something up on this blog. I am not Polynesian, however I know this game will be one good one to watch good luck to all the players!

what no Mexican bowl

Wow the game is being held at Cathedral correct, isnt Cathedral mostly Mexican and other latino . Why don't they hold that bowl game at another school that has a lot of Polynesian brothers, like Serra or at cerritos collage or lbcc, or evern veteran staduim. It Seems like Cathedral is just trying to use the polynesian family to get some talent on there team. I feel sorry for the Mexican decent football players at Catherdral, that no even there own school dosent represent " SHAME ON CATHEDRAL HIGH ".

Poly

No one ever said that this game would have an impact on any samoan or tongan or polynesian or any race or culture in particular in going to college. some of the kids playing in this game already have offers from other universities and some need a game like this and some are just playing their last competitive game at this level, This is a celebration of the sport of football and the many oportunities it has afforded many of us who are of polynesian decent. No one complains when the army bowl makes it selection and how they excluded a kid from fort meyers florida. This bowl game could have selected kids that have names that only start with the letter "R"...hopefully no one would complain. They can still call it the polynesian bowl and not have a single polynesian kid on it next year. Out of how many kids that end up playing in the army bowl next year, how many end even joining the army. I actually heard that if you're under under 5ft and over 400lbs, you can't play in this game. No one is trying to exclude any kid or deny any kid the opportunity to play in any all star game, its just many of us who have played the game at the highest level whether it be college or NFL have always wondered what an all star game of this type would be like. One thing is for sure, none of us ever thought we would get the type of comments that we're getting on this specific blog. No one ever complained about the hula bowl in hawaii that they had for years when the kids that played in that college all star game were polynesian. Or was it bad that that was going on? And I might add, there are caucasian kids playing in this game...there are hispanic kids, and there are african american kids, there are asain kids playing in this game and there are kids from california, utah, hawaii, washington and texas playing in this game. What more do you want? Its just a game my ignorant friends. Its just a celebration. If you love the game of football, come out and see, cuzz us polynesians know how to play a good game of gridiron. You might not see a Peyton Manning or a John Elway, but you might see a Howie Long or a Ronnie Lott or a Troy Polamalu or a Haloti Ngata. Depends on where you sit in the stands and jersey color the kid has on...lol

Ronaldus Magnus

OK, so the issue here is not geography, it's that race has been held to be a constitutional issue, with members of races that have been denied opportunities (blacks, hispanics, etc) being designated as a protected class.

Which is bull crunchies.

United Negro College Fund = good.
United Caucasian College Fund = Racist.

NAACP = Good.
National Association of White People = Bad.

Polynesian Bowl = Good.
White Kids Bowl = Bad.

Polynesians are underrepresented in college, huh?

The issue is that most of the American Polynesians have never left the islands and never intend to. So what do you suggest, we grab them kicking and screaming to the mainland?

Going to college is a choice. This football game will have ZERO impact on how many Samoans attend college...

It's just a way to rub it in the face of the white kids, telling them that they can't play.

Bull crunchies.

Mayberry Dad

Under-represented Jus sayin? Over looked them? Yeah, the scouts and recruiters never get out to Long Beach Poly, Westlake Village Oaks Christian, West Covina South Hills, Los Alamitos and Gardena Serra.

Poly

Oh yeah, and nationality, they're just as american as you and I.

Poly

The white boy bowl is every saturday and sunday where them white boys make millions off of many of our kids' backs in college and the nfl...we never called them racists. This is the first time anything like this has ever been attempted and we get ripped for something that we're trying to do to give back to the communities that we come from. Go figure. A kid cant play in the the all ventura county all star game because the kid is from orange county, but no one gets upset bout that. Lol

Jus sayin

If I'm not mistaken, Polynesians are under represented in college compared to other nationalities. This game gives their people exposure to recruiters and colleges who may have overlooked them as prospects. This bowl is by no means, racist.

Just Sayin'

Easy Dollar Bill, although it does sound a bit exclusionary.

Dollar Bill

when is the white boy all star game?

Pete Van Ginkel

A bowl game based on nationality?
