Football: Bill Redell ties Southern Section record for titles

Bill Redell of Westlake Village Oaks Christian has tied the Southern Section record for most championships won by a football coach with eight.

Redell has won seven at Oaks Christian and one at Encino Crespi. Randall Johnson from Rio Hondo Prep won eight eight-man titles and Harry Welch also has won eight championships at Canyon Country Canyon and San Juan Capistrano St. Margaret's.

Billy Redell is a stud. He built the Crespi program bringing us our only legit CIF title. Steve Butler came close in 73 but got smashed by Los Altos in title game. Troy Thomas bailed out for the cash of Servite after winning a D-10 mickey mouse title. Jon Mack has told close friends he will also bail out for his alma mater after Rooney retires following 2012 season. A life long Crespi hater he took the job only because wife Kathy demanded he take the money. Mack is a good recruiter but will not bring a title in his last 2 yrs at Crespi due to the turbulent competition. I have been following Celt football since the late 60's. Here are the top 5 Crespi coaches:
1-Billy Redell
2-Steve Butler
3-Mo Freedman
4-Eddie Mulflur
5-Troy Thomas

Justice Scalia: I know you will agree with my top pick but you would rank Thomas second. I dont credit him for his Servite work. D-10 is a joke. And he has no idea who you are. And you have no idea who Butler is. Also, Ed Marek told me you played for Muflur and only played in garbage time.
