Boys' basketball: Zena Edosomwan comes through

January 14, 2011 |  9:20 pm

When North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake looks back on this season, Friday's Mission League showdown with Los Angeles Loyola will be remembered as the game 6-foot-8 junior Zena Edosomwan showed that he's a big-time player in the making.

Edosomwan scored 26 points and combined with 6-7 Damiene Cain, who scored 25 points and had 19 rebounds, to be a dominant duo in a game that was played before a capacity crowd at Harvard-Westlake and ended with Wolverine students charging onto the court to celebrate a 13th consecutive victory for Harvard-Westlake (16-2, 5-0).

Jacob Hazzard had 19 points and Justin Childress and Parker Cartwright 15 points apiece for Loyola (11-5, 3-2), which played well but could not overcome Harvard-Westlake's huge edge on the boards and in the height department.

The two teams were magnificient from the free-throw line. Loyola made 20 of 23. Harvard-Westlake made 17 of 19.
