Boys’ basketball: L.A. University defeats Fairfax

L.A. University took a step toward claiming second place in the Western League with a 56-48 victory over Los Angeles Fairfax despite 30 points from Landon Drew.

In the Coliseum League, Isaac Hamilton scored 27 points and Darnell Taylor had 23 points in Crenshaw’s 86-66 win over West Adams.

In the Trinity League, Santa Ana Mater Dei defeated JSerra, 76-49. Xavier Johnson finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds.

In the Mission League, Reggie Coates scored 17 points and Matt Mounier 16 in Crespi’s 60-52 win over West Hills Chaminade. Kennedy Edwards had 25 points and 27 rebounds to help Sherman Oaks Notre Dame defeat St. Francis, 58-57. He also made the game-winning layup with two seconds left.

Unbeaten Etiwanda gave Coach Dave Kleckner his 400th career victory with a 53-40 win over Upland.
