Boys' basketball: It's a sellout for Mission League game

January 14, 2011 |  6:30 pm

I don't understand what motivates the students, but the rivalry between Los Angeles Loyola and North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake continues to bring out students and alumni en masse for basketball games.

Friday's Mission League game between the two schools at Harvard-Westlake has produced a crowd that has filled most of the seats in the bleachers. And the stars are out.

Ex-Loyola football standout Anthony Barr is here. Hall of Fame baseball player Dave Winfield is watching his son, Dave Jr., who plays junior varsity basketball for the Wolverines. Former UCLA Coach Walt Hazzard is here.

And the fans have been loud and boisterous since the freshman game was held. So wait until the varsity game begins.
