A year ago, I never thought Encino Crespi could beat Sherman Oaks Notre Dame three times in a basketball season and suggested the Celts throw a parade for Coach Russell White if he pulled it off. Now White might deserve another parade if his team wins the Mission League.

Crespi (13-3, 1-0) started league play with a 76-72 upset of Los Angeles Loyola. Matt Mounier had 28 points and 10 rebounds. Reggie Coates added 13 points and 10 rebounds. Jacob Hazzard had 22 points and Julian Harrell 20 for Loyola (9-4, 1-1).

Mission Hills Alemany knocked off Chaminade, 69-52. Max Guercy had 18 points for the Warriors (10-4, 1-0).

Are the Celts for real? Let’s see how they do against Harvard-Westlake.
