There haven’t been a lot of top sports moments for East Valley High, a relatively new school in North Hollywood, but last week, the boys’ basketball team handed Sherman Oaks CES its first league defeat in two years.

East Valley has taken over first place in the Valley League with a 10-4 overall record, 6-1 in league play. Guards Andrew Faigenblat and Eddy Escobar are averaging 16 and 15 points a game, respectively. Manny Torres has taken more than 10 charging fouls this season. Escobar and Torres are honor-roll students.
