Boys’ basketball: Alemany knocks off Crespi

It has been a tough week for Encino Crespi. It began with a loss to Harvard-Westlake on Monday, and the Celts suffered another Mission League defeat on Wednesday when Mission Hills Alemany won, 80-57.

Max Guercy scored 21 points for the Warriors (12-5, 3-1). Crespi (14-5, 2-2) received 20 points from Matt Mounier. Harvard-Westlake stayed unbeaten in league with a 64-57 win over Chaminade. Josh Hearlihy and Zena Edosomwan had 21 points apiece for the Wolverines, who face Loyola on Friday.

In the Trinity League, Xavier Johnson scored 25 points and Katin Reinhardt added 17 points in Santa Ana Mater Dei’s 79-45 win over Anaheim Servite.

In the Pacific League, Glendale handed Pasadena Muir its first league defeat, 65-56. In the Marmonte League, Thousand Oaks defeated Moorpark, 58-46.

In the City Section, Woodland Hills El Camino Real rallied from a 14-point deficit to defeat Chatsworth, 57-56, on a last-second shot by Chris Francis in the West Valley League. Taft defeated Birmingham, 84-41, with C.J. Blackwell scoring 20 points.

In the Western League, Westchester and Fairfax set up a Thursday showdown with victories. Westchester defeated University, 65-48. Robert Gsellman and Keywhon Powns had 14 points apiece. David Nwaba led Uni with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Fairfax defeated Venice, 70-48, with Laik Carter scoring 24 points.

In the Coliseum League, Isaac Hamilton scored 25 points and Darnell Taylor added 17 points and eight rebounds in Crenshaw’s 79-61 win over Locke. In the East Valley League, Gor Plavchyan had 19 points in Grant;s 61-25 win over Monroe.
