UCLA baseball Coach John Savage deserves to take a vacation after sweeping in and getting commitments from so many top players from the class of 2012.

The latest commitment comes from pitcher Felipe Perez of Anaheim Fairmont Prep, who helped the U.S. 16-and-under national team win a gold medal at the Pan American Games.

Among the other commitments from players who will be juniors in high school this spring are pitchers Max Fried (Montclair Prep), Lucas Giolito (Harvard-Westlake) and Hunter Virant (Camarillo), plus outfielder-pitcher Ty Moore (Mater Dei).

It’s too early for the experts to rank recruiting classes, but let me take a guess that the UCLA class of 2012 will be in the top five nationally. Of course, UCLA is going to have to battle the pros to have the players show up in the fall of 2012.
