Girls' basketball: Brea Olinda beats Long Beach Poly at TOC

Brea Olinda defeated Long Beach, 56-48, in the Joe Smith division championship at the Nike Tournament of Champions on Wednesday in Chandler, Ariz.

After trailing 31-26 at halftime, Brea Olinda outscored the Jackrabbits 17-8 in the third quarter to take the lead.

The Ladycats had a 50-48 advantage with less than a minute remaining, and made their free throws down the stretch for the win.

"The biggest difference was the free throws," said Poly Coach Carl Buggs. "That's where the game was won."

Brea was 21-for-25 from the free throw line, while Poly was only three-for-five.

Justine Hartman led Brea with 22 points and Alexis Perry added 19. Ariya Crook-Williams had 12 for Poly.
