Anyone going to a Westlake High home game should stop by the football team’s new Legacy Hall, located in a customized trailer next to the snack stand. It’s as impressive as a college hall of fame.

There are four television screens, two of which play games from 1979 to now, allowing alumni to watch themselves from their high school days. Another TV shows the game on the field live and another gets regular cable reception.

Then there are the photos, souvenirs and awards honoring past Westlake players. Of particular interest are the Purple Hearts on display for former Westlake players A.J. Castro and Frankie Toner, who died while serving in Afghanistan.

It’s a wonderful idea to honor those who made an impact in high school football at Westlake.
