Get your passports ready, because Sherman Oaks Notre Dame will open its 2012 football season with a game in Dublin, Ireland, Coach Kevin Rooney confirmed on Monday.

The Knights will travel to Ireland and play before the Notre Dame-Navy game at a different site. They will leave on Aug. 28 and return on Sept. 2. The school will hold fundraisers to pay for the trip.

Several high school football teams from the United States have been invited to play in the event held in conjunction with the Notre Dame-Navy game.

So Notre Dame fans can start looking for cheap airfares and cheap hotel rooms starting next September. And incoming Notre Dame players will have something to look forward to.
