In horse racing, when it rains, the bettors look for horses that run well in the mud. And on Saturday, Gardena Serra and Anaheim Servite better find some players who like playing football in the rain and on a wet field.

Corona Centennial players didn’t like it at all, and that helped Palo Alto to a 15-13 victory in the CIF state championship Division I bowl game on Friday.

At least Serra and Servite got to practice in the rain on Friday, something that will prepare them for the elements. And Servite players who are seniors or juniors got a taste of the rain in last season’s Pac-5 Division championship game at Angel Stadium.

They need to be prepared because both Folsom and Concord De La Salle are experienced in wet weather.
