Football: It's prediction time

Since I've gone 13-0 the last two weeks with predictions, it's time to really go out on the limb with championship thoughts. So here I go.

City Division I: Crenshaw 42, Carson 14. It's De'Anthony Thomas' last high school game and he isn't leaving the Coliseum on the losing side.

City Division II: Fairfax 35, Chatsworth 14. Chancellors can't stop Matt Bowen's running.

Pac 5: Servite 24, Mission Viejo 21. It's heads or tails in this one. I'm guessing a Connor Loftus field goal will decide it.

Northern: Westlake 42, Oaks Christian 28. Nick Isham is going to pick apart the Lions' secondary.

Inland: Corona Centennial 48, Vista Murrieta 14. Bring on Palo Alto.

Western: Gardena Serra 56, Arroyo Grande 21. That blur was George Farmer streaking toward the end zone for four touchdowns.

Central: Rancho Verde 28, Colton 21. Both schools are grateful Corona Centennial isn't in this division.

Southeast: Bonita 38, West Covina 35. Upset special.

Southern: Garden Grove 42, Beckman 14. There's no stopping Josh Webb.

Northwest: South Torrance 21, Lompoc 14. It will be a fun bus ride home for South Torrance.

Southwest: La Habra 35, Tustin 28. A tougher schedule and the ability to pass keys La Habra win.

Eastern: Summit 28, Elsinore 21. Devon Blackmon is the player to watch.

Mid-Valley: Monrovia 21, Whittier Christian 20. After going 0-9 in championship games, Monrovia finally wins.

East Valley: Paraclete 35, Sierra Canyon 34. This one is going to be exciting.

Northeast: Bishop 42, Boron 28. Bishop will celebrate with a ski party in Mammoth.

Ok E.S.

I will be the first to tell you that even though you missed on some of your calls, you were dead on with this prediction about Crenshaw vs. Carson. I expected a closer game but as I said before, we expected the same from Dorsey, Narbonne, and Venice and instead we got blowouts. Same thing with this one.

@ Carson. Since you claim that Carson played a tough schedule and our blowout wins were against "sorry teams", and we just blew out Carson 45-7, I guess we can add Carson to that list of "sorry teams". LOL CRENSHAW FOOL!!

Colt Stampede

@ Not a fan

Get real, we are in the finals and we play tough opponents so Div 2 is not in our dna! I never said anything about every City team should be in the same division. If you look at the debate blog Oct 30th I mentioned that there are only 21 Div 1 teams and 37 Div 2 teams.I also stated that some major changes are needed in the City.Any Div 2 teams who think they can handle it should move up with the big boys! Ps I only mentioned South Torrance game b/c they are in the South Bay along with Serra.Just like Mira Costa beat Alemany for the title last year and Serra beat OaksChristian.

Pete Rock

I knew you'd be wrong about the Lompoc - South Torrance game!

Not a fan

PS colts should of gone d2 they're gonna get smoked, NO COACHING!!

Not a fan

@Colt Stampede

I love how you say WHO CARES to the D-2 City championship yet you have predictions for southern section division 10. thats right 10 lompoc is in D-10 there is no more than 28 teams in any southern section division but some of you clowns think that the city should have a 79 team division, there should be 3, 25 team divisions in the city. NOT picked by coaches. IF there was only 1 division then 4, 9-1 teams would of missed out on playoffs including the D2 champion fairfax. GET REAL

ALLCITY

Crenshaw by a mile! It's not going to be close. De'Anthony Thomas ALL DAY!

Irish

Ale from Carson in 87 was a linebacker I know that. To this day there has been no better player than him..

southernleagueOG

@ anyone with carson or colt(s) in their name: Nah...Sorry. Ain't gonna happen. Crenshaw by AT LEAST 20 points.

Colt Stampede

@ Caligriddude

I gotta admit, you know the LA grid and sounds like you been on the soil for a minute. That '03 Carson team also beat a 12-0 Dorsey team @Jackie Robinson stadium in the semifinal which had the highly touted Stephon and Jeremiah Johnson's at RB and everyone thought was unbeatable. Then the smashed a 13-0 Venice squad at the Coliseum for the title. The beauty of this game is that when teams are this even it creates excitement surrounding the game. Also to the guy that said Arnold Ale was the qb for the #1 Nationally ranked Colts in '87,I have ti correct you. They set the state record that year with 13 Div 1 college signees and George Malaulu was the QB.Even after losing all those players, the next year they still won the State Championship!

Peaches

CORRECTION: CRENSHAW COUGARS CITY CHAMPIONS 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Peaches

My prediction and I am a female. Crenshaw 49 -Carson 12. DeAnthony and Shelton running all over Carson defense. Crenshaw Defensive line killing Carson offense.COUGARS WILL STOMP ALL OVER CARSON!!!!!!!!!! CRENSHAW COUGARS CITY CHAMPIONS 2011!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

caligriddude

Man...what a game this is going to be. DeAnthony and Shelton, vs Willis and Johnson in the backfields; McConico vs Alo at QB; the two tough O and D lines whoopin' on each other; both teams have tough, aggressive yet small DB's; Thompson and Floyd catching the pig for The Shaw and Rogers and Bierria taking it downfield for the Colts. The difference may be Alo's ability to go vertical downfield to his tall receivers and also his ability to scramble, or the difference may be Crenshaw's O-line, opening monster holes for DeAnthony and Shelton to run thru. This game has the feel of the Venice-Carson game of 2003 when top-rated Venice was supposed to slam Carson and the Colts came out and stomped Venice real bad. Remember, the pressure is on The Shaw, not Carson...Crenshaw is the defending champ......Carson 35 Crenshaw 32 in an upset

shaw coug

ok P-NONS there u go again lying to every1. 13-0, for some reason u seem to have forgotten that your narbonne football team that u predicted to win 42 - wharever lost, no got SPANKED. So how do you get 13-0 out of that. P-NONS leave the football thing to the peolple who no what they're talking about and i'll say again go predict narbonne basketball games maybe you'll have better luck n still LMAO......HAHAHAHAHA

quip

seriously, C-shaw got a gift last year by being awarded the state championship game...city section is just not worthy of any more state games. Had your chance...move on!

Irish

The real C house: John Elway didn't beat Carson in 87 title game.. It was Granada Hills but the quarterback was Jeremy Leach. Carson had Arnold Ale who starred on Notre Dame's national championship year in 88 as a true freshman. Then he made the biggest mistake of his life transfered to UCLA right after that. He would have been a 1st round pick in the NFL with Lou Holtz and Barry Alvarez being his coaches. Ale is still the best player to come out of Carson..

lmick

I played in the city in the eighties at Banning. Now I coach in the inland empire. It's sad to how bad city football is today. How bad football is at Gardena, Washington, and Banning High. The Marine League City Section is terrible! Twenty nine kids on varsity football teams. Something needs to be done. So, stop crapping on Carson and Crenshaw and give them credit for continuing the respect for the Marine League. Have a great championship game. Keep City Football Alive!

THA REAL C-HOUSE

@es..you ask how Granada Hills beat Carson in 87'..two words JOHN ELWAY!! i got Carson 35 Crenshaw 31. COLT LUV!!

Coach Garrett

Every body check out the article about Coach Garrett! You either love him or hate him, but the Gman is on top! He is the best coach in the City Section.

Cal Preps

Crenshaw (Los Angeles, CA) 35-22 over Carson. Cal Preps projection. The question is how much will Crenshaw win by. Carson don't have a chance because Crenshaw has the best head coach and the best player. Coach Garrett and De Anthony Thomas. Sorry about that Asante and Alo!

Shaw Dogs

come on man! es why are you giving carson bullitin board material. we not gonna beat them 42-14 if they not sleepn. thanks for wakin em up! crenshaw will win 38-35.

Asante and the Colts

Everybody says that Crenshaw will beat Carson 42-14! Problem, Asante and the Colts didnt get the memo!

Colt Country

@justcya Thats why Carson has the # 1 seed. Because we earned it. You can't say anything bad about Carson, its tradition is Deep and its Program speaks for itself. Yeah maybe Crenshaw is haveing a couple of good years but does not compare to Carson's MANY YEARS. Yes, the Marine league is the toughest league in the city ask your Coach. Good luck to all the Boys on both sides and hope no one gets hurt. GO COLTS ......

 4214

Is everybody coming to Carsons funeral and Crenshaws cornation by Eric Sondheimer on Saturday?

phenoms

I have gone 13-0 Carson 44-42 over crenshaw! Servite 27 mission 24! The other games the same as yours, es! Narbonne Playerz rule! Peace! Phenoms!

Colt Stampede

My predictions:

LA City Div 1

Carson 31 Crenshaw 21

Div 2
Who cares?

SS Pac 5(Div 1)
Mission Viejo 24, Servite 21

Western Div

Serra over Arroyo Grande

Northwest Div
South Torrance over Lompoc

The South Bay will finish with 3 Champions(Carson,Serra,South Torrance).

Football City Reports

Sondheimer,

you have got to get your priorities in check. Are you the only sports reporter who is allowed to give his predictions on here?

BIG BEN

GAME DAY

SO U WANNA GO THERE....IT'S COOL. JUST NO CARSON COLTS IS #1.THAT ALL U NEED TO NO.NOW U CAN GO BACK TO PLAYING YO VIDEO GAMES, CAUSE WE ALL NO U DIDN'T PLAY NO BALL ON THE FIELD YO SELF...HAHAHAHAHA

justcya

@ Carson. Two of those "sorry teams" that Crenshaw allegedly ran up points on happened to be playoff opponents, Narbonne and Venice. Narbonne was from the Marine League and I think that Carson beat them by...3 points. Crenshaw won 49-14. Venice got to play Crenshaw by beating...San Pedro, another Marine League team that Carson beat by...8 points. Crenshaw won 63-12. So maybe you should rethink the definition of sorry teams. Otherwise you are saying that the Marine League has "sorry teams".

BIG BEN

GAME DAY ,U DON'T NO NONTHING ABOUT FOOTBALL. GO BACK TO YO VIDEO GAMS.

crenshaw 42 carson 14

es, now can you give us your prediction on the carson and crenshaw championship game on saturday!

CARSON

Crenshaw lost to Norco who lost to CC 45-0 and VM 45-0 and they also lost to that sorry Georgia team that lost in the second round of the playoffs. They ran up the score on a bunch of sorry teams by leaving their first team in the game and kicking onside kicks when they are up by more than 40 points. I hope you guys dont believe that little rat Sondheimer who never played football and predicts Crenshaw 42-14. This is CARSON FOOL!

GAME DAY

Big Ben

I hope you did not graduate from Carson, because if you did the school needs to start focusing on education!

Colt Stampede

@ whiffed

Comparing the Southern Section and City Section is not an equal comparison.

Southern Section= 600+ schools
L.A. City Section= 58 schools

Of course the Pac 5 evolved into the most competitive division with a mixture of private and public schools. The City has a myriad of obstacles due to being run by the LAUSD(budget cuts, staff development days etc). That's a entirely different topic for another day. The Northern Division is lower than the Inland Div which is nothing to brag about b/c Inland's best schools are public(CC,Vista Murrieta,Rancho Verde etc). If you are private schools and not in the Pac 5 don't poke your chest out!

justcya

Wow E.S. Crenshaw 42, Carson 14. What a prediction. I'm a Crenshaw Alum and I am expecting a closer game than that. But then again, we expected closer games from Dorsey, Narbonne, and Venice.

BIG BEN

DEAR SHAW
LET JUST SAY THE THIS, CRENSHAW HAS NEVER BEAT CARSON COLTS IN THE BIG GAME. NOW U CAN GO BACK IN CHECK YO HISTORY BOOKS ON THAT FACT.CARSON COLTS IS MAKING IT'S 23 APPEARANCE IN A 4A CITY CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.NOW THAT BIG TIME FOR ANY FOOTBALL PROGRAM.

the shaw

check your history book "crenshaw has never beat carson" yeah right

FredJ

Respect, since when is making a prediction disrespecting someone?

Whiffed

Respect,

you're talking about the same Carson team that got their backsides handed to them by Santa Margarita, right? Maybe you should stop the crowing. Oh yeah, they got their chops busted by MV too. The City Section is a far cry from either the Pac5 or the Northern conference. Whine about being dissed when you've done something.

dwayne baudy

@ Respect, are we talking about the same Carson that refused to play Serra anymore because they lost 2 straight years?

es

Here's a history lesson. In 1987, Carson was nationally ranked and heavily favored to win the City title. The Colts were stunned by Granada Hills in the championship game. To this day, I can't explain how Granada Hills won and Carson lost, so anything is possible in the City title. But on paper, Crenshaw is the favorite.

RESPECT

City Division I_Crenshaw 42, Carson 14. It's De'Anthony Thomas' last high school game and he isn't leaving the Coliseum on the losing side.

hey eric s, does garrett know some dark secrets about you that you dont want reveled...why else would you write such libelous smut...Crenshaw has never beat Carson and never will...you have disrespected our coach, our players, our city and our tradition. This aint Dorsey, Venice or Norco. This is CARSON! It's all about us!
