Football: Chaminade's Matt Goudis commits to Michigan

It appears Chaminade kicker Matt Goudis will be heading a little further northeast for college than he originally intended.

Goudis, who recently dropped his commitment to Boise State, has verbally committed to Michigan, according to Scout.com.

Ranked 12th among kickers in the 2011 national recruiting class by Rivals.com, Goudis is considered one of the best kickers in the Southland. The senior kicked nine field goals and made 37 extra-point attempts to help the Eagles finish 11-2 last season.

With Goudis opting to pursue his collegiate career at Michigan, Upland kicker Jake Van Ginkel could be next in line to receive an offer from the Broncos. Van Ginkel has received interest from several Pac-10 schools, including UCLA and USC, but no offers.

Goudis is an absolute genius and a great kicker.

Good research and timely news. It's not that Michigan hadn't recruited kickers the last two years, they just couldn't perform once the whistle blew. Maybe there's a head-case test to administer to kickers to see if they have the same psycho profile that hockey goalies must have.
