The Mission League, already loaded with basketball talent, apparantly has no bad teams this season because the school that was supposed to finish in last place, La Canada St. Francis, improved to 2-0 on Monday with a 61-60 upset of Simi Valley in the Crescenta Valley tournament.

Last week, all Simi Valley did was win its own tournament title. Junior guards Emerson Castaneda and Zack Gardea scored 27 and 22 points, respectively for St. Francis. Jonathan Davis missed two free throws with 25 seconds left for Simi Valley.

In the Ocean View tournament, Encino Crespi (3-0) defeated Temecula Valley, 65-55. Carter Gallo had 16 points and Matt Mounier 15. Orange Lutheran defeated Narbonne, 68-55, with Gabe York scoring 26 points. Ocean View defeated Long Beach Jordan, 54-51.

In pool play from the L.A. University tournament, it was Locke 69, Van Nuys 39; West Adams 74, Reseda 67; Venice 77, North Hollywood 66.
