Boys' basketball: Coach helps save player with CPR
La Verne Lutheran Coach Eric Cooper is being credited with helping save the life of basketball player Xavier Jones, who collapsed during practice last week and needed CPR after he stopped breathing.
The San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported that Jones is resting comfortably in the hospital and doctors have determined he suffers from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a condition that causes thickening of the heart wall.
"He saved his life," Jones' father, David, said of Cooper.
