Freshmen pitchers Adam Plutko (Glendora) and Zack Weiss (Irvine Northwood) have been throwing well in winter practice for UCLA and appear on their way to become starting pitchers in 2011. Plutko is in position to earn the Sunday spot and Weiss could be the midweek starter.

Both turned down bonus offers after being drafted in June. They could be key players because UCLA hopes to make it back to the College World Series and returns two of the top starting pitchers in the nation in Gerrit Cole and Trevor Bauer.
