On Wednesday, dozens of high school seniors will be able to sign letters of intent with colleges on the first day of the early signing period for all sports but football, boys’ and girls’ soccer, boys’ water polo, boys’ and girls’ track and field.

In basketball, the most interesting story involves Boston College taking away three players from Southern California _ 6-foot-11 Kyle Caudill from Brea Olinda, guard Lonnie Jackson from Valencia and 6-8 forward Ryan Anderson from Long Beach Poly.

Poly, expected to be the preseason No. 1-ranked team in Southern California, will also have guard Alexis Moore sign with USC.

In girls’ basketball, 6-3 Reshanda Gray, the City Section player of the year from Los Angeles Washington, has called a Wednesday afternoon news conference to announce her college choice. She has been recruited by California and USC, among others.

The No. 1 player in the United States, Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis from Santa Ana Mater Dei, is set to sign with Connecticut. Malia Cravens from Temecula Valley will sign with Hawaii.

In baseball, Huntington Beach Edison will have three players sign _ Henry Owens (Miami), Christian Lopes (USC) and Eric Snyder (UCLA).

Orange Lutheran will have at least 10 athletes sign. West Hills Chaminade will have at least four baseball players sign.

Correction: An earlier version had Eric Snyder set to sign with USC. He is signing with UCLA.
