Football: Upland’s secret weapon keeps delivering

Upland kicker Jake Van Ginkel kicked four field goals last week to help his team defeat Temecula Chaparral, 40-35, in an Inland Division opener.

He kicked a game-winning field goal against Los Osos for a 41-38 victory in the Baseline League championship game.

Van Ginkel has made 13 field goals this season and 38 in his varsity career. He’s also an outstanding punter and someone who should be a valuable weapon when Upland faces unbeaten Corona Centennial on Friday at Upland.
