Everyone admires the defense of Anaheim Servite, but the Friars wouldn’t be 12-0 without converted running back Malik Felton, a senior who ran through the Trinity League and had 195 yards rushing in a quarterfinal playoff win over Encino Crespi.

‘When you look fast against Crespi, that’s saying something,’ Coach Troy Thomas said.

Felton was a receiver when the season started. Then came injuries to running backs Sean DeRosa, Everett West and Jherremya Leuta-Douyere.

Felton was switched positions out of necessity, and now he’s the key offensive player for Servite, which plays unbeaten Mission Hills Alemany on Saturday at Cerritos College.
