Getting 100 receptions in a single season is impressive. When you’re at 101 and counting, that’s even better.

Richard Mullaney, a senior at Thousand Oaks who is committed to Oregon State, has caught 101 passes for 1,364 yards and 17 touchdowns going into a Northern Division quarterfinal game against Westlake Village Oaks Christian on Friday.

‘I think he’s outstanding,’ Oaks Christian Coach Bill Redell said. ‘He’s their go-to guy. We know he’s a problem. He’s going to get his catches. We just have to make sure it’s not for a big gain.’

Mullaney has already shattered the school record for single-season receptions of 83 held by Dave Anderson. He’s one catch away from tying the school record for career receptions of 182. He also has 14 career interceptions.

‘He’s as good as any I’ve been around,’ Thousand Oaks Coach Mike Leibin said.
