Los Alamitos is 24 minutes away from taking back the Sunset League title.

The host Griffins lead Huntington Beach Edison 20-7 at halftime, mostly because of big plays by Nick Richardson and Richard Turner.

After a 16-yard loss and a 15-yard personal foul penalty appeared to have doomed the Griffins’ opening drive, Richardson ripped off a 57-yard run for the game’s first score.

Then, after Edison took a 7-6 lead, Turner turned a routine catch into a 77-yard touchdown that gave Los Alamitos the lead back, 13-7, in the waning seconds of the first quarter.

Turner added a short touchdown run early in the second quarter to pad the Griffins’ lead.
