Football: Excitement is building for Westlake-St. Bonaventure

I dropped by Ventura St. Bonaventure on Wednesday, and I can tell the players are excited for Friday’s Marmonte League showdown against Westlake Village Westlake.

Westlake is 8-0 and ranked No. 2 by The Times. The big question is can the Seraphs’ defense disrupt Westlake’s close to unstoppable offense.

A key player will be Tanner Souza, a cornerback-receiver for St. Bonaventure (7-1). He has three interceptions and has scored one touchdown on an interception return, another touchdown on a punt return and several more touchdowns on pass receptions.

He’s a terrific student who wants to become a doctor. I’m looking forward to seeing the matchup of Souza against Westlake’s Nelson Spruce.
