City Section football coaches have been trying to change the way schools are seeded for the playoffs, but not enough coaches have responded to the proposals.

The City Interscholastc Athletic Committee has decided that the coaches have one final time to respond. IAC is expected to move forward at its January meeting on a plan by the football advisory committee that turns over the seedings to an independent committee with a set criteria.

Canoga Park Coach Ivan Moreno criticized last week’s seeding meeting in which the Hunters were left out of the Division II playoffs by a vote of coaches and IAC representatives.

In a letter to City commissioner Barbara Fiege, Moreno said, ‘It is time that someone with authority scrap this system and bring about one that is fair, equitable and restores credibility and respect for LAUSD.’
