There are youth football championships scheduled this weekend, and here’s a warning to high school coaches who like to show up and act as if they are Rick Neuheisel or Lane Kiffin trying to impress prospects.

You can’t wear your high school attire on the sideline. That would be a violation of Southern Section rules, according to Thom Simmons, the Southern Section spokesman.

Fans and coaches who spot someone showing off their school colors on a sideline, take a photo or push the button on your video camera. It’s a violation, and the coach and/or school could face sanctions.

Yes, it’s a little silly but the battle for middle school players has gotten to the point public and private schools are complaining loudly about illegal recruiting. So be like the NCAA this weekend. Get your cameras ready and be on the lookout for violators.
