Cross country: Saugus wins boys’ and girls’ titles

There’s no doubt Saugus is the cross country king in Southern California. The Centurions won the boys’ and girls’ Division 2 team championships Saturday at the Southern Section-Ford cross country championships at Mount San Antonio College.

Elias Gedyon of Los Angeles Loyola won the Division 2 individual title in 15:47. Arcadia won the boys’ Division 1 title, led by Ammar Moussa, who ran 15:15.

Simi Valley freshman Sarah Baxter took the girls’ Division 1 title with the fastest time of the day in 17:40.

North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake won the Division 4 boys’ title, with Sherman Oaks Notre Dame’s Will Conway taking the individual title in 16:22.

Brea Olinda (Division 3) and St. Margaret’s (Division 5) also won boys’ titles. Great Oak (Division 1) and Palos Verdes (Division 3), JSerra (Divsion 4) and Chadwick (Division 5) won girls’ titles.
